General Tips
Your hotel concierge or manager can answer your questions, make reservations, and recommend restaurants. Do not hesitate to ask for directions, food delivery, or laundry service. The hotel should offer internet access or tell you where to find it.

The recommended site for visitors to Paris is the Paris Tourist Office. The Mairie de Paris (Paris City Hall) has an English version of their site for additional information. To find your way around using public transport (Metro, RER, tramway or bus) visit the RATP website.

There is a Starbucks on Bd. Montparnasse that provides Wi-Fi with drink purchase. Many cafés also provide Wi-Fi access.

The most cost-effective way to obtain Euros is through your home bank’s ATM card. Use any of the ATM machines in Paris to debit your home account. You will need a four-digit PIN code. For larger purchases, it is often more cost-effective and more convenient to use your credit card – VISA is the most widely accepted, MasterCard is gaining ground. Check with your bank regarding fees on overseas purchases.

Bureau de Change services generally operate Mon. – Sat. 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. At airports, they are open daily 6:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. There is an exchange counter at American Express (11 rue Scribe, 75009 – metro Opera) open from Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Exchange counters can also be found in main Post Offices (PTT) in Paris.

In the case of any sudden serious medical problem, you can call the SAMU (first aid rescue team) by dialling 15. In the case of fire or accident call the Pompiers (fire brigade) by dialling 18. If you must see a doctor during the night, you can call SOS Medecins and they will send a doctor to your dwelling (01 47 07 77 77). For any other problems please don’t hesitate to ask the WICE staff.
